Rafael Tarud ( Talca , 30 of April of 1918 - Santiago , 2 of maypole of 2009 ) was a lawyer and politician socialist Chilean origin Palestinian .
He studied at Public School No. 6 in Talca and at the Liceo in the same city. He later entered the Law School of the University of Chile , where he graduated as a lawyer in 1940 .
In 1957 he ran as a candidate for senator and was elected, as an independent supported by the left parties , by the 6th Provincial Group "Curicó, Talca, Linares and Maule", for the period 1957-1965. He was a member of the Permanent Commission on Economy and Commerce, which he presided over in 1957 and 1961; that of Foreign Relations; that of National Defense; that of Government and that of Agriculture and Colonization. Member of the Mixed Budget Commission. In 1961 he attended, as a member of the Chilean delegation, the Conference of Heads of State held in Belgrade . And in 1965 he traveled to Canada , integrating the Chilean parliamentary delegation, to the 51st Inter-Parliamentary Conference held in Ottawa.
Achievements and Awards
In 1987, together with Ricardo Lagos and Jorge Schaulsohn, he founded the Party for Democracy (PPD).
