1938-1991, Qulia, al-Lid, refugee. leading Fatah leftist. Headed pol guidance within Fatah general command, head the Fatah militia in Jordan, Fatah-CC 1971, started coordinating leftist figures into an independent faction within Fatah; 1972, , formed alliance with Wazir. Led anti-Syria position by attacking Maronite strongholds in early1976, backed Soviet intervention into Afghanistan in 1979, causing rift with Saudi. Strongly opposed Fahd & Reagan plans. Backed Abu Musa rebellion 1983; his membership in Fatah-CC was frozen & dropped from Fatah list for PNC. Leadership struggle within dissident movement led to Syria turning against him, placing him under house arrest 1984 where he died of a heart attack.
