Jamil Salem, a policy member of the network, is a legal scholar who currently serves as the director of the Institute of Law at Birzeit University. Fluent in English, Arabic, and German, with advanced proficiency in French and Latin, Salem has garnered practical legal experience through his work with various Austrian and international institutions. His tenure at the Institute of Law began in January 2005, initially as an academic researcher before assuming program management responsibilities. In August 2012, he ascended to the position of Director.
Salem's research interests span diverse areas including the history of law, human rights, legal theory, law and society studies, law and politics, and critical legal studies. He also delves into specialized studies concerning the rule of law and technologies of imperialism.
