Samir Abu Aisha is a professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering at An-Najah National University in Nablus. He assumed the planning portfolio in the tenth Palestinian government and in the National Unity Government (eleventh) in 2006-2007.
His upbringing and life
He was born in the village of Beit Wazan on August 25, 1960. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Jordan in 1982. After that, he traveled to the United States of America and completed a master’s thesis in the same specialty at Pennsylvania State University in 1984, then a doctorate in transportation planning from The same university in 1987. He worked in teaching, research, and administration (Dean of the College of Engineering and Assistant to the President for Planning and Development) at An-Najah University. He was also a visiting professor at a number of universities in Europe and America before accepting the position of Minister of Planning. He also worked as a consultant in a number of ministries and with a number of international bodies.
