Abdel Hamid Al-Sayeh (1907-2001) President of the Palestinian National Council from 1984 to 1996.
Growing up [ edit ]
He was born in the city of Nablus in 1907, where he studied part of the primary stage at the Al-Khan School in Nablus and the other part at the Al-Rashadiyah Al-Sharqiya School [2] and obtained an international certificate from Al-Azhar and a specialization certificate from the Sharia Judiciary School. [3]
His work [ edit ]
He worked as a teacher of the Arabic language in Irbid , and in 1932, Sheikh Al-Sayeh was appointed acting Sharia judge for the Nablus Court. He was then appointed as a judge for the Nablus Sharia Court, secretary of the Supreme Islamic Council, and a Sharia judge for the Jerusalem Sharia Court, the Presidency of Appeals, and the Sharia Directorate. He was also appointed a member of the Jordanian delegation to the United Nations . Also the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Sanctities in Jordan . [2] [4] [5]
Medals [ edit ]
In 2013, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas awarded him the Star of Honor Medal, highest class, in recognition of his national role in all stages of the Palestinian Revolution. [6]
