Yasmine Mishinish, the little girl, is one of the Palestinian refugees who fled with their families from the terrorist war on Syria and took refuge in Australia. She is also the granddaughter of Palestinian refugees who were expelled from Palestine by Zionist terrorist militias in 1948. In that same year, those gangs occupied the land of Palestine and established, with great global support, the Zionist occupation state in Palestine.
A few days ago, I read in the profile of the Palestinian friend “Aline Al-Ghadhban” who lives in Canada. I found her to be “Umm Saad,” who said, “Tent after tent separates,” and she is from Burj Al-Barajneh camp in Beirut. She is also the heroine of the novel by the great Palestinian writer, the martyr Ghassan Kanafani. The anniversary of his martyrdom will fall a few days later in July.
When Yasmine began her life in the New World, that is, in Australia, she assumed that she would be like every Australian or refugee who arrived in that country and obtained the right to reside there. She has been living there with her family for years... This Palestinian child assumed, with heart, mind, blood, and belonging, that Palestine is present on the map of the world and in the consciences of all people. But she was surprised and shocked by her school administration, which refused to place the Palestinian flag among the flags of other countries, which were hung in the Australian school.
But Yasmine, in turn, rejected this arrogance... and insisted that the flag of her country, Palestine, must be hung in the school, like all other flags hung. In the end, she was able to achieve this, making it her first victory as a child defending her country, Palestine.
I will explain to you what I read from the angry friend and how Yasmine changed the school’s mind and made them hang the Palestinian flag.
The little girl stopped attending school in protest against the school’s position and its lack of recognition of the Palestinian flag, but she did not tell her family the reason for her absence from school, and she used the excuse that she was sick. But two days after she stopped working, her family was surprised by a call from the school to tell them that they were asking Yasmine to return to official work, and that they would place the Palestinian flag among the flags of other countries.
Then the Palestinian Yasmina explained what happened to her at school and the reason for her absence and interruption of work: She told her family that she did not find the flag of Palestine among the flags of the countries in one of the school’s activities, so she asked her school to put the flag of Palestine, but the school refused that, and the administration at the school told her that they would put the country’s flag. Where she was born, which is Syria or the flag of the Zionist occupation state (Israel) as the one who rules and controls the land of Palestine, Yasmine met them with rejection and insistence on placing the flag of Palestine and refused to recognize the Zionist flag and occupation. Of course, the school did not respond to her request, which led to Yasmine refraining from going to school.
Yasmine told her family that she was sick and did not tell them what happened to her and the school administration. But after two days, the parents were contacted and asked to persuade Yasmine to return to school, and the school administration explained to the family that it would place the Palestinian flag among the flags of other countries.
This is what Palestinian national education is, which I have always called for, especially among Palestinians in Western, international and European exile. Which I worked hard to implement with my children.
