Sheikh Yusuf bin Yahya bin Mar’i al-Karmi (died on August 1, 1667 AD , corresponding to Safar 10, 1078 AH ), whose nickname is Jamal al-Din , and whose full name is Yusuf bin Yahya bin Mar’i bin Yusuf bin Abi Bakr bin Ahmed bin Abi Bakr bin Yusuf bin Ahmad al-Karmi , is a scholar and A Muslim jurist and mufti , born in the city of Tulkarm in Palestine. He is considered one of the most prominent Hanbali scholars , and one of the most prominent Islamic scholars in the eleventh century AH . He was a mufti for the Hanbalis in the land of Palestine , and he is one of the prominent figures of Palestine , and the grandson of the jurist Mar’i al-Karmi . 

His biography 

Sheikh Youssef bin Yahya bin Mar’i bin Youssef bin Abi Bakr bin Ahmed bin Abi Bakr bin Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Karmi , whose nickname is Jamal al-Din , was born in the city of Tulkarm in Palestine, and grew up in a family known for science and jurisprudence in Tulkarm .

His family produced several jurists and scholars, including his grandfather, the scholar and jurist Mar’i Al-Karmi , in addition to his grandfather Mar’i’s nephew, the jurist Sheikh Ahmed bin Yahya Al-Karmi , his relative Sheikh Mustafa bin Youssef Al-Karmi , and others. 

In the year 1634 AD (corresponding to 1044 AH), Yusuf bin Yahya Al-Karmi went to Egypt , where he studied religious studies at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif , and one of its most prominent sheikhs was Sheikh Mansour Al-Bahouti . In the year 1639 AD (corresponding to 1049 AH), Yusuf al-Karmi returned to his city of Tulkarm , and he took charge of issuing fatwas for the Hanbalis in the land of Palestine , and in particular for all the brigades of the Nablus Mountain region . Thus, he was one of the most prominent scholars of Hanbali Islam in the eleventh century AH . 

His elders 

Sheikh Yusuf bin Yahya Al-Karmi learned his knowledge on various legal and jurisprudential topics from a large number of scholars and sheikhs in Egypt , the most prominent of whom was Sheikh Mansour bin Yunus Al-Bahouti . 
His approach 
Sheikh Youssef bin Yahya Al-Karmi was influenced in his approach by his grandfather, the jurist Marai Al-Karmi , so he adhered to his approach and teachings. 

Divorce issue 

Sheikh Yusuf bin Yahya Al-Karmi tended to say that divorce does not occur in a single word, in agreement with the jurist Ibn Taymiyyah . 

His death 

Sheikh Yusuf bin Yahya Al-Karmi died in the city of Tulkarm on Monday, August 1, 1667 AD, corresponding to Safar 10, 1078 AH.

Sheikh Muhammad Kamal al-Din al-Ghazi said in his book “Al-Na’at al-Akmal” about Sheikh Yusuf bin Yahya al-Karmi: “He is the virtuous sheikh, the jurist, the wise scholar, and the prophet.”
