The scholar Sheikh Abdul Karim Al-Kahlot, “the one who sees in his heart,” was born in the village of Na’alia on 12/15/1935, and he immigrated with his family to Gaza when the Nakba occurred in 1948.

He completed his studies at Al-Azhar Institutes in Egypt in 1960, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia and Law from Al-Azhar in 1966. He studied at the hands of Al-Azhar scholars such as Sheikh Mahmoud Wafa, Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Qadir Al-Mawi, Sheikh Al-Saket, Sheikh Mahmoud Shahada, Sheikh Muhammad Dhaifullah... and others. .

In 1971, he was appointed as a teacher at the Al-Azhar Religious Institute in Gaza for 23 years, during which he was chosen as a director of the religious and linguistic subjects at the religious institute for 8 years. He was secretary of the institute’s Fatwa Committee for 10 years, and was chosen as a member of the institute’s teacher selection committee for 15 years. In 1978, he was appointed a teacher at the university. Islamic University in Gaza for eighteen years until 1996. He was chosen as a rapporteur for the Curriculum Committee at the Sharia College at the Islamic University.

In 1994, he also worked as a teacher at Al-Azhar University in Gaza for four years. He worked as an imam, preacher, and preacher at the Ministry of Endowments from 1967 to the present day, and was chosen as a member of the Committee. Appointing imams of mosques, preachers, and preachers at the Ministry of Endowments, and specializing in teaching many religious topics, including: (Rhetoric - Literature - Jurisprudence - Hadith - Interpretation - Inheritance - Literature of Research and Debate - Interpretation of Verses of Rulings - Hadiths of Rulings - History of Legislation - Grammar), and was issued during this period. During this period, there were many pamphlets, articles, booklets and books on various religious topics, including: (Hajj and Umrah - fasting - interpretation: Surat Al-Hujurat, Surat Al-Kahf - Sciences of Rhetoric).

Hundreds of male and female students in various specializations graduated from his hands, including religious scholars, doctors, engineers, teachers, and academics who abounded with the Islamic University, Al-Azhar University, and various facilities of life, in addition to hundreds of graduates of both genders who work in Arab countries.

Since the establishment of the College of Da’wah in 2004, he worked as a lecturer there, and in 2005 he was appointed Dean of the Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine according to a presidential decree issued by the late President Yasser Arafat in 2005. The Sheikh also held the position of issuing fatwas, and was appointed Mufti for the Gaza Governorate during the period (1994-2006), and proved his ability to During this position, he gained the merit of a knowledgeable scholar, as he was the most knowledgeable of the people of Palestine about what is permissible and what is forbidden, and in this regard he was a member of the Supreme Fatwa Council in Palestine from 1994 until his death.

His death

His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Karim Al-Kahlot, the legitimate Mufti of Gaza, died on the evening of Monday, Rabi’ Al-Akhir 24, 1435 AH, corresponding to 02/24/2014 AD, at his home, after a long struggle with illness, at the age of 78 years. The body of Sheikh Al-Kahlot was buried on Tuesday afternoon from the Grand Omari Mosque. Downtown Gaza.
