Shawqi Al-Omari was born in Jaffa in 1938, received his secondary education in Gaza in 1959, obtained his PhD from Lumumba University, Russia.

He worked at the Foreign Studies Academy in the Soviet Union until 1975 when he left to Beirut where he worked at the Palestinian Center for Researches then in "Falastin Al-Thawra" Magazine. Shawqi currently works as cultural attache in the Palestinian Embassy in Poland.
