Mahmoud Al-Desouki “Abu Uday” (1934-October 28, 2015), a Palestinian poet, was born in the city of Taybeh (the Triangle - Palestine). He was arrested after a while and released. He continued his secondary education at Nazareth School, graduating in 1955, then joined the Institute of Journalism and obtained a BA in 1964. After that, he joined Tel Aviv University and studied economics and obtained a BA in 1970 and a diploma in accounting in 1971.

He composed poetry at an early age, while he was still in the beginning of high school. He published his first printed poetry with a number of poets students while he was still in high school. In 1957, he issued the Diwan of “The Great Prison” and in 1959 the Diwan of “With the Free.” He also issued the Diwan of “The Procession of the Free,” so it was confiscated and its publication was banned. The poet was arrested and brought to trial on charges of inciting against the state (Israel).
