Информация
Mahmud Sobh was born in Safed, small village of Galilee, Palestine, in February 1936. In 1948 he was brutally expelled from it by tanks and soldiers of the recently created Israel. He started a life as an exiled that took a decisive turn when, in 1965, he decided to accept a scholarship to come to Spain and do his PhD thesis on the classical Andalusian poetry. At the moment, he works as a professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Complutense University of Madrid. Álamo Award of Poetry in 1975, Vicente Aleixandre Award in 1978. Mahmud Sobh’s poetry, popular and vitalist, clear, classical and iconoclastic, kind and disturbing at the same time, perpetuates us in an eternal youth with the love, the search of identity, the life as an adventure and the rebellious sincerity as essential guides.
