Bassam Khalil Franjieh (born in Lebanon in 1950) is a Palestinian translator, critic, author and professor of Arabic literature and language working in the United States of America.

 

his life

Franjieh was born in the town of Quneitra in the Golan in 1949, to a family of Palestinian refugees, originally from Jaffa, who sought refuge in the Golan after the Nakba. He received his bachelor's degree in Arabic literature from Damascus University, then immigrated to the United States of America and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees from Georgetown University, where he taught for several years.
