A Palestinian politician and novelist who was born in Beersheba Subdistrict 1923, finished his secondary education in Gaza 1942. In the beginning of the 1940's, he joined the Palestinian Security Forces; he was a leader in the local struggles against Zionists; director of the Islamic Conference's office in Jerusalem 1954; appointed as a member of the Senate 1971 and as vice-chairman of the council; appointed as secretary-general of the National Arab Union 1973; member of the National Consultative Council 1978; appointed as Minister of Culture 1994; director and editor of (Al-Manar) Newspaper in Jerusalem. Hammad died on 17 March 1995 in Egypt and he was buried there.
