His life
The Turkish government exiled Tawfiq and his family to Anatolia during World War I , as well as his two colleagues, the Muftis of Hebron and Gaza . He had taken his large library with him to his exile in Karacabey (a small town in the Bursa province), where he and his family devoted themselves to reading. They were then moved to Konya until the end of the war, after which he returned to Jaffa in 1918. He became known for collecting aid to support Arab revolutionary movements, such as the Syrian Revolution and the revolt of Prince Muhammad ibn Abd al-Karim al-Khattabi in the Moroccan Rif . He also hosted prominent figures arriving in Jaffa, such as Abdullah al-Nadim . In 1948, he was forced to flee Jaffa to Zarqa in eastern Jordan, where he died.
