Walid Khalidi (1925–2026) was a Palestinian historian who wrote extensively on Palestinian refugees and the 1948 war. He was also a co-founder of the Institute for Palestine Studies and served as its Secretary-General. Khalidi was born in Jerusalem and graduated from Oxford University in 1951. He lectured in political studies at the American University of Beirut until 1982 and was then a researcher at the Harvard Center for International Affairs. He also lectured at Princeton University and Oxford University, and was a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
