Salim Habib Makholi (1938 – November 8, 2011) was a Palestinian poet, painter, and physician. He was born and raised in Kafr Yasif in the Western Galilee. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1966. He practiced medicine in his hometown. He was active in local cultural and social magazines. He has published numerous poetry collections. 

His biography

Salim Habib Makholi was born in 1938 in Kafr Yasif in the Western Galilee to agricultural parents. He grew up there, completing his elementary and secondary education there and then enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1959, earning a doctorate in medicine in 1966. In addition to his medical studies, he studied fine arts at the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts
in Jerusalem. He worked as an internist at Afula and Nahariya hospitals . He then returned to his hometown of Kafr Yasif to work in the Health Fund clinic, serving the people of his town. He practiced medicine there until his retirement in 2004, devoting himself to literature. His literary works, both poetry and prose, are characterized by romantic, national, and political tendencies. His poems address various social, cultural, philosophical, and symbolic themes.
He was a member of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Defense of National Land and a member of several local committees, such as the Golden Jubilee Committee. He was also a member of the Creativity Committee of the Arab Fine Artists Association and the Arab Writers Union in Israel. He held a number of cultural seminars, participated in national festivals and meetings, and was prominently active in various cultural and social fields.
Salim Makholi died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 73 on November 8, 2011, in his hometown.  His funeral was held and he was buried on November 11. 

His profession

In drawing, he excelled in his charcoal drawings of the displaced villages, “ especially the villages of Iqrit and Kafr Bir’im , and his paintings toured this country in an exhibition on the subject of the Nakba and displacement. ” In the religious administration, he was elected head of the Orthodox National Council and a member of the Third Orthodox Conference.

He was married and had four children.
