Salama Abu Qasim (1947-), also known by his nom de guerre Major General Mazen Ezzedine , is a Palestinian historian and leader in the Fatah movement. He was born in Deir al-Balah where he received his primary and preparatory education at the Deir al-Balah Amiriya School for Boys, his secondary education at the Khalid bin al-Walid Secondary School for Boys, and his secondary education at the Manfaluti School (Deir al-Balah School for Boys) in 1965. He joined the Teachers Institute in Alexandria between 1965 and 1967.
He holds a BA in History from Sana'a University in 1989, a diploma in public relations in postgraduate studies with honors, and a master's degree in military history of the Palestinian Revolution (1967-1973) from Ain Shams University and Al-Aqsa University in 2005. He also holds a doctorate from universities in the Soviet Union .
His professional life
Salama Zidane joined the Fatah movement in 1965 and worked as a deputy to Tayeb Abdel Rahim when he was the General Political Commissioner, a deputy to Major General Nasr Yousef when he was the General Political Commissioner, and a deputy to Othman Abu Gharbia when he was the General Political Commissioner. The Minister of Interior appointed him the General Political Commissioner of the Political and National Guidance Authority .
He received military training at the Libyan Military College in Benghazi in 1969, a course in company leaders from the People's Republic of China in 1975, a course in battalion leaders in 1976 from the Westerly Academy in the Soviet Union , and a course in general management of military sciences in Denmark in 1995. He served as a deputy to the General Political Commissioner between 1983 and 2006. He was a member of the Revolutionary Council , the National Council , the Advisory Council, and the National Security Council.
