Jamil Ayyad Muhammad al-Wahidi (1930 - 2005) is a Palestinian-Jordanian poet. He was born and raised in Beersheba . He graduated in history in 1967. He worked with the British Mandate government for several months, then worked as a teacher, then assistant principal, then principal in UNRWA schools from 1950 until 1990, when he retired. He has several published poetry collections.
His biography
He is Abu Al-Walid Jamil bin Ayyad bin Muhammad bin Saud bin Hussein bin Rabah bin Ahmed bin Salem bin Hussein bin Bakr Al-Wahidi. He was born in 1930 in Beersheba , in the lands of the Al-Wahidat clan south of the village of Al-Faluja in the Gaza Strip. He studied elementary school at its school and some of his secondary education at Al-Majdal School, and completed it at the Ibrahimiyya College in Jerusalem. Then he obtained the minimum teachers' examination certificate in 1957 and the secondary school examination certificate in 1962 and the BA in 1967 from Beirut Arab University .
He worked with the British Mandate government for several months as a Wireless Operator, then a school teacher, then an assistant director and then a director in the schools of the International Relief Agency from May 1, 1950 until December 31, 1990, when he retired. He participated in some of the battles of the Negev in 1948 and was wounded in the Battle of Beersheba and was captured by the Israeli Defense Forces .
His death
Al-Wahidi died on 10 Muharram 1426 corresponding to 18 February 2005 in his home in Ain al-Basha .
