Imad Eid Hajjaj (born in Ramallah
1967) is a Jordanian cartoonist of Palestinian origin. He has worked for
several local and Arab newspapers. His drawings deal with the political
situation in the Middle East and the world, in addition to the political,
economic and social issues that occupy Jordanian society through the cartoon
character of Abu Mahjoub. He is now an animator for Roya TV's This Morning
program.
his life
Imad Hajjaj was born in the West
Bank and educated at UNRWA schools in Al Wihdat camp in Jordan. In 1974, he
received the first certificate of appreciation for drawing for a school
competition on the subject of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque. In 1986, he joined
Yarmouk University to study physics, then transferred in 1988 to study fine
arts to obtain in 1991 a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Graphic Art) with a
minor in Journalism and Media.
practical life
His first cartoons were published in
the pages of readers' participation in the newspapers "Al-Dustour"
and "Voice of the People". Since 1989, he has worked as a political
cartoonist in the weekly newspaper "Akher Khabar". Between 1990 and
1998, he worked for several local and Arab newspapers: (Al-Quds Al-Arabi) of
London, (Al-Watan) of Qatar, (Al-Dustour) and (Al-Arab Al-Youm) of Jordan. And
in local weeklies: (Al-Ahali), (Al-Rasef), (Al-Bilad), (The Future), (Shehan),
(The Journalist).
In 1993, he became a daily illustrator
for Al-Rai newspaper, and continued until 2000, when his services were
terminated. He worked for the Jordanian Al-Dustour newspaper from 2000 until
mid-2004. He worked for the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad and Al-Quds Al-Arabi.
On July 1, 2012, he moved to work again in the Jordanian Al-Rai newspaper.
He is a member of the Jordanian
Journalists Syndicate, since 1994, and a member of the Cartoonists and
Satirical Writers Agency.

He won the Hussein Award for
Journalistic Creativity, the best cartoon for the year 2001.
He won the Dubai Award for Arab
Press for the year 2006 for the best cartoon drawing published in the Arab
press for the year 2005, for the painting (The Weeping Arab Camel).
