Musa Nasser (1895-1971) was a Palestinian academic and politician.
Foundation
He studied at the Bishop's School in Jerusalem; He attended the American University of Beirut and graduated with a degree in Physics in 1914; He served in the civil services in the Ottoman Army during the First World War; During which he studied economics and political science at Robert College in Istanbul.
Political life
During the British Mandate period, he held administrative positions, including Assistant High Commissioner, after which he resigned, objecting to the policy of encouraging Jewish immigration to Palestine.
He was elected twice to the Jordanian House of Representatives, and held the positions of Minister of Transportation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, member of the Senate, Mayor and Assistant Governor of Palestine in the Jordanian government in the 1950s, and he supervised the construction of Qalandia International Airport. He received medals of independence of the first degree, the Renaissance of the first degree, and a number of Arab and Islamic decorations.
educational activity
His sister, Nabiha Nasser, had established a school in Birzeit in 1924; After his sister's death in 1951, Musa Nasir, with the help of Gabi Baramki, took over developing it into a college in 1953 and then into a university in later stages.
In 1962, he was appointed Chairman of the Higher Education Committee and responsible for the establishment of the University of Jordan in Amman.
