Dr. Maysoun Ibrahim is the founder and president of the Palestinian Information Technology Syndicate and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab American University in Palestine. She is an expert in information and communication technology (ICT) for development with experience working in government, international institutions, academia, and the private sector. Dr. Ibrahim is a board member of the Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence in Palestine, where she chairs the council's Pilot Development and Incubation Committee and Innovation Supporters Network. She previously chaired the Fourth National Forum on the Fourth Industrial Revolution in 2019.
She is also a board member of the Euro-Mediterranean University in Slovenia and has served as a consultant to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) on smart sustainable cities and smart digital solutions for urban resilience in Arab countries. Dr. Ibrahim is a member of numerous national and international committees and boards, including, but not limited to, the Technical Committee of the ESCWA Technology Center, the Coordinating Committee of Industrial Research Centers in Arab Countries, the National Committee for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, the Steering Committee of the National Team for Artificial Intelligence, and the Hult Prize Foundation Council.
Dr. Ibrahim holds a PhD in Technology for Development, specializing in Smart Sustainable Cities, a dynamic field that lies at the heart of achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She is a researcher and has numerous research publications, including scientific papers, articles, and books. She is a judge in numerous national and international competitions on creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
She is a reviewer and member of the committees of several prestigious international conferences and research journals. Dr. Ibrahim has presented numerous academic seminars, workshops, and lectures at several regional and international universities. These include the University of California, Berkeley, USA; Rice University, USA; the University of Portsmouth, UK; New York University (Abu Dhabi Campus) in the UAE; and Beirut Arab University, Lebanon, among others. Dr. Ibrahim has received various awards for her outstanding contributions to the research and development community, including women and girls’ empowerment and gender equality.
