Ahmed Hamdi Abu Abasa (April 1, 1983 – December 13, 2023) is a Palestinian academic , born in Gaza City . He served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Media and Information Technology at Palestine University and then as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Engineering.
His biography
Ahmed Abu Abasa graduated from high school with distinction in the science section, and joined the Islamic University in the College of Engineering , where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Control Engineering in 2005, a Master’s degree in Computer Science in 2007 from the University of Virginia in the United States of America , and a Master’s degree in Communications Engineering from the Islamic University in Gaza in 2012. He completed his PhD in Signal Processing Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2018. He joined the University of Palestine as an assistant professor and dean in the College of Applied Engineering and Urban Planning , and the director of the iBridge project at the university, which is a project that aims to build the capabilities of students in the software engineering program, link them to the labor market, and improve the opportunities for exporting software to global markets.
On December 13, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces assassinated him with a shell after his release following his arrest from the " Holy Family " school in the Gaza Strip , during the Palestinian-Israeli war .
