Ghassan Dweik was born on June 10, 1956, in Hebron. He holds a Ph.D. in Architectural Studies (Rehabilitation) from Institute de Architecture (ION MINCU) in Bucharest, Romania, completed from January 1995 to March 1998. Prior to this, he obtained a Master's Degree in Architectural Studies (Restoration) from York University in York, England, from September 1987 to August 1988. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural and Urban Studies from Institute de Architecture (ION MINCU) in Bucharest, Romania, earned from December 1975 to June 1982. His research interests and fields revolve around Conservation and Environment Studies.
Dr. Dweik has made significant contributions to the field through various research publications, including:
"Developing the commercial city center of Hebron," published in the Palestinian Engineer Magazine No. 58, issued in March 2012.
"The rehabilitation of 'Sooq Al Wakala' building (Guest House) in the old city of Hebron," also published in the Palestinian Engineer Magazine No. 58, March 2012.
"Development of Palestinian historic centers" presented at the International Seminar on the historical cities of the Mediterranean, Jericho, held on March 5th-6th, 2012.
"Rehabilitation Project of Hebron City Center for Handicapped" presented at the Conference of Social Responsibilities for Palestinian Universities at Al-Quds Open University, Nablus, in September 2011.
Several other notable presentations and contributions, including those made at international conferences and in collaboration on publications such as "Hebron – the heritage and the history," in which he authored four chapters alongside Eng. Abdulhafiz Abu Sirriyeh.
