Dr. Rania Abu Seir serves as the Assistant to the President for Medical and Health Affairs at the University of Jerusalem. She is also an Associate Professor in Hematology in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and the Dean of the Faculty of Health Professions.
Dr. Abu Seir earned her Ph.D. in Hematology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Throughout her professional career, she has been dedicated to the development of the healthcare sector by improving the quality of education for medical professionals and contributing to scientific knowledge through research.
During her tenure at the University of Jerusalem, Dr. Abu Seir has been involved in various capacity-building projects and educational enhancements in medical specialties taught by the Faculty of Health Professions. These projects have been funded by international organizations like the World Bank, and they have included curricular changes in fields such as nursing, midwifery, medical laboratory sciences, physiotherapy, and medical imaging.
Dr. Abu Seir is also an active member of the Academic Development Committee at the University of Jerusalem.
Beyond her university-level achievements, Dr. Abu Seir has made significant contributions as a consultant in capacity-building projects for medical research staff at various local institutions, including the Palestinian Medical Laboratory Association, the Thalassemia Patients' Friends Society, the Motala Hospital, and the Arab Consulting Hospital. She has developed and taught numerous educational and training courses, both methodological and non-methodological, following international standards.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Rania Abu Seir has offered her expertise as a consultant to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Crisis Management Committee at the University of Jerusalem.
In the realm of scientific research, Dr. Rania Abu Seir is a distinguished and pioneering researcher in the fields of hematology and cancer. She has numerous scientific publications to her name and has represented Palestine and the University of Jerusalem at various local and international conferences. Furthermore, she is a member of over ten international and local scientific associations.
