Dr. Omar Abu Al-Hams holds a Ph.D. in English Language Teaching with a special focus on Second Language Acquisition from the University of San Francisco (1990). He joined the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts in 1992. He teaches courses in writing instruction at all three levels, as well as introductory courses in linguistics, semantics, morphology, syntax, special topics in linguistics, language seminars, and more.

His research interests primarily revolve around "effective teaching" and the foundations of developing English language curricula and teaching methods. He has conducted numerous research studies in this field.
