The Governor-General, representing Queen Elizabeth, honored Dr. Mustafa Darbashi with the New Zealand Medal of Merit at a ceremony held at Government House in Auckland.


Dr.. Derbashi from Hebron has been a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee of the Cabinet Appointments Committee since June 2021 - and a chairperson in providing independent advice to the government on the way it implements the committee's recommendations.

The New Zealand Order of Merit was established by Royal Warrant on 30 May 1996 by Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand, "for those persons who in any field of work have rendered a worthy service or who have distinguished themselves by their nobility and talents."
