Yousef Al-Abed is the director of the Center for Molecular Innovation at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at Northwell University in Manhasset, New York . An organic chemist by training, Al-Abed holds two positions as a professor of molecular medicine and medicine at the Northwell School of Medicine at Hofstra University. 

Dr. Yousef Al-Abed received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Chemical Technology from the College of Science and Technology in Jerusalem in 1985, then his Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Jordan in 1989, and then his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tübingen , Germany in 1994. He then worked as a postdoctoral investigator at the Becker Institute for Medical Research, now known as the Feinstein Institute. 

Al-Abd's research focused on a protein called phagocytic cell migration inhibitor factor as a drug target for autoimmune diseases and inflammation .
