He is an ecologist and geologist , born in Saarbrücken , Germany in 1962. Khalaf completed his education in Kuwait, and obtained a master's degree from Durham University in the UK in ecology, and a doctorate from the University of Bonn in Germany , with a thesis entitled "The Behavior of Carnivores", and from Ashwood University in the United States of America, specializing in animal behavior and ecology. His academic life

Dr. Naaman Khalaf has presented many researches and field studies on wildlife specializing in zoology and mammals . His first publication was a Palestinian scientific periodical that monitored and listed the animals of the Palestinian environment entitled “ The Gazelle” when he was a student at the Faculty of Science at Kuwait University in 1983. After obtaining his doctorate from the University of Bonn in Germany, he began to roam the Arab world searching for new things in the animal world and excavating its fossils, starting from Palestine to Lebanon , Kuwait , Syria , Iraq , Saudi Arabia , Qatar , Bahrain , Oman and the Emirates . In addition to his research related to the Arab environment in European countries such as Germany, France and Britain . His stop in the Emirates was also full of discoveries after he registered in his name three local discoveries of two Emirati fish in Wadi Al-Wariah, in addition to his discovery of the fossils of the Emirati elephant in the Abu Dhabi desert .  Most of his research focused on studying animal environments and indigenous, hybrid and endemic species of the Palestinian land. Although the brutal Israeli aggression machine does not differentiate between humans and animals in destruction and devastation, the area of Palestine , which is 27 thousand square kilometers, contains many topographical differences, such as the marine environment on the Mediterranean coast, the Red Sea coast in the Aqaba region , the desert environment in the Negev desert in southern Palestine, and the mountainous environment such as Jerusalem and the Hebron Mountains . Khalaf was able to record discoveries of animal species in his name, including: the Palestinian jackal known as the wawi, the Gaza house mouse, which differs in its genetic characteristics from other mice in its brown and white color, the Wadi Qana fish , the Palestinian sycamore fish fossil, and the Jerusalem dinosaurs .
