Khaled Darwish Abdel-Qader Al-Nashif
(January 13, 1942 - February 9, 2009) was a prominent Arab archaeologist and
historian. He was born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm. He is a professor
specializing in the history of the ancient Near East. The Israeli authorities
deported him outside Palestine after the Oslo Accords.
His upbringing and education
Khaled Darwish Abd al-Qader
al-Nashif was born in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank on January 13, 1942.
He received his primary education in the schools of his city, Tulkarm, and
moved with his family between several Arab and foreign countries, including

his working life
Khaled Al-Nashif worked as a
lecturer at the University of Tübingen in Germany from 1978 until 1987, and
then at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He contributed to the preparation of
the famous "Tübingen Atlas of the Middle East" in Germany (Tübinger
Atlas des Vorderen Orients), which is the most important and largest atlas
prepared in Germany.
He later returned to his homeland,
Palestine, and worked as a lecturer at Birzeit University in the West Bank. He
also assumed the position of director of the Palestinian Institute of
Antiquities in 1994, and continued to do so until he was deported by the
Israeli authorities in 1998 outside Palestine, specifically to Jordan, where he
remained until his death there in 1998. 2009.
The scholar Khaled Al-Nashif had
also contributed to the publication of a number of his studies in the Institute
for Palestine Studies through the “Journal of Palestinian Studies”, “Jerusalem
Annals” and “Jerusalem Quarterly Magazine”.

Khaled Al-Nashif passed away on
Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, at the age of 67,
due to an incurable disease. Several Palestinian authorities had called him.

extreme caution in science, and I still talk to him today, despite his absence,
