Информация

Jamal al-Jamal (Arabic: جمال الجمل; August 1, 1957 – January 1, 2014) was a Palestinian diplomat. He served as the ambassador to the Czech Republic from October 11, 2013, until his passing.

Al-Jamal was born in 1957 in Beirut's Sabra refugee camp, with his family originating from Jaffa in what is now Israel. His affiliation with Fatah began in 1975, and he was appointed Deputy Ambassador to Bulgaria in 1979. Starting in 1984, he held diplomatic roles in Prague, including acting ambassador. From 2005 to 2013, he served as the consul general in Alexandria, Egypt. In October 2013, he assumed the role of Ambassador to the Czech Republic.

His death occurred due to an explosion at his official residence on New Year's Day 2014, according to Czech police. Al-Jamal sustained fatal injuries and passed away several hours after being hospitalized. Czech authorities attributed the blast to an explosive device within a safe, stating it wasn't a preplanned attack. Subsequently, illegal weapons and ammunition were discovered by Czech police in the Palestinian Embassy in Prague. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout referred to the incident as "a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations." The Mayor of Suchdol, Petr Hejl, advocated for the embassy to be relocated from the district.
