Izz al-Din al-Khatib al-Tamimi , one of the Sunni scholars from the city of Hebron , Palestine , and former Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places in Jordan ( 1928 - 2008 ).

His birth and upbringing

 

Sheikh Al Tamimi was born in Hebron, Palestine in 1928 AD , and obtained the international certificate with a license in Sharia judiciary in 1951 AD . He later joined the Faculty of Sharia at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif , where he obtained a high degree.

Positions he held

 

Al Tamimi held several high-ranking positions, including:

  •  A teacher of the Arabic language and Islamic education in Jordan, Egypt, Palestine and Libya.
  • Part-time lecturer at the University of Jordan.
  • Director of Preaching and Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Sanctities/Jordan.
  • Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places/Jordan.
  • Member of the National Advisory Council / Jordan.
  • Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites in Jordan .
  • The Grand Mufti of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan .
  • King's Advisor for Islamic Affairs.
  • Chief Justice.
  • Member of the Senate , Jordan .
  • Chairman of the Trustees of Al al-Bayt University , in Jordan .
  • Chairman of the Jordanian Center for Research on Religious Coexistence.

His death

 

Sheikh Tamimi died on July 4 , 2008 AD , and his body was buried after Friday prayers from the King Hussein Mosque in Dabouq to the royal cemeteries in Jordan . The then Prime Minister Nader Al-Dhahabi , the Speaker of the Senate Zaid Al-Rifai , the Head of the Royal Hashemite Court, Dr. Basem Awadallah , and the Chief Justice participated in the funeral. Ahmed Halil , the Mufti of the Kingdom at the time, Noah Al-Qudah, senior employees of the Royal Court, a number of ministers, notables, representatives, Islamic religious scholars, civil and military officials, and citizens.
