Ali Jamil Mustafa Mahna (March 26, 1954) is a Palestinian politician and jurist. Since June 5, 2023, he has held the position of President of the Palestinian Supreme Constitutional Court .

Early life and education

Ali Jamil Mustafa Mahna was born on March 26 , 1954.  He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Beirut Arab University in 1976 ,  and a Master’s degree in Law from Al-Quds University in 2003. 

His professional life

He served as the Palestinian Minister of Justice in the fourteenth,  fifteenth,  and sixteenth Palestinian governments.  He also previously served as the President of the Palestinian Supreme Court of Justice and the Palestinian Supreme Judicial Council until the Palestinian Supreme Court of Justice decided to cancel his appointment on December 7, 2015.  He is a former head of the Palestinian Bar Association ,  and a former member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council between 2009 and 2016.  Muhanna served as the legal advisor to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from January 27, 2019 until his dismissal on August 19, 2019.  He was reassigned to the same position on August 19, 2019. 

On August 8, 2022, the Palestinian President reconstituted the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University , appointing him as a member.  He continued until his resignation was accepted on June 5, 2023.

As Legal Advisor to the President, he became a member of the Supreme Coordination Council for the Justice Sector on 31 July 2019.
