Ali Nabil Shaath, an Egyptian electronics and computer engineer of Palestinian origin. Founder of “Added” (Arabic Digital Expression Foundation) and one of the pioneers of free software in the Arab world, and a founding member of the Egyptian Association for Open Source Software.
He was born in Alexandria in 1967, to a Palestinian father and an Egyptian mother, and grew up in Beirut and Cairo. He is the eldest son of Dr. Nabil Shaath, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, and the older brother of Randa Shaath, the photographer, and Ramy Shaath.
