Jamal Saber Khoswan was born in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of Gaza City on October 23, 1970. He is married and has three sons and two daughters. He completed his primary and secondary education in Gaza Strip schools and earned a bachelor's degree in dentistry from Russia in the late 1990s, followed by master's and doctoral degrees in prosthodontics. He opened a specialized dental center in Gaza City and served as chairman of the board of directors of Al-Wafa Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation and Specialized Surgeries from 2016 to 2023.
Khaswan became involved in social and union activities, and led a number of programs concerned with providing free medical care to the poor and those with limited income, until people called him the doctor of the poor and the humane doctor. He supervised the activities of Al-Wafa Hospital, such as the World Day of Older Persons event, and the “Our Story” exhibition that he held in 2017, in addition to organizing the annual Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan at the hospital. He also cooperated with the Khan Yunis Municipality during his tenure as head of the Dental Syndicate in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the syndicate and the municipality. He participated in conferences to support and assist dentists affected by wars, including the conference that he organized in 2020. He was also known for his care for poor university students and providing them with university fees. He assumed the chairmanship of the board of directors of the Al-Wafa Charitable Society and its affiliated nursing home.
Khaswan, along with his wife and son, were killed when occupation aircraft bombed his apartment in the International Tower in Gaza City on the morning of May 9, 2023, as part of the military operation carried out by the occupation army on the Gaza Strip, which was called “Operation Protective Arrow.” Khaswan’s house was adjacent to the apartment of Tariq Ezz El-Din, a leader in the Islamic Jihad movement, who was also assassinated by the occupation at the same time, when occupation aircraft bombed his apartment.
