Ahmed Saeed Al-Tayyibi is a Palestinian doctor, born in Lebanon, then moved to Syria, then to Kuwait, where he completed his preparatory and secondary education, and from there to Egypt, where he studied medicine at Cairo University, and then began his journey in Western universities. Al-Tayyibi obtained a doctorate in the field of genetic medicine from the University of London, and discovered 35 genetic syndromes that are deeply related to the formation of genetic predisposition to diseases of genetic origin, and many of these genetic syndromes were named after him. He has 200 medical scientific papers, in addition to a book in which he talks about genetic diseases among Arabs, which formed the first nucleus for the establishment of the “American Middle Eastern Society of Geneticists.”
He has also been a professor of pediatrics at the University of Toronto in Canada , since 1998 when he moved there from McGill University . He has headed the Department of Clinical Genetics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto , and is also vice-chair and professor of pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York , as well as in Qatar .
Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyibi is also a prominent figure in the field of genetics and genetic diseases , particularly in the Arab world, where he is responsible for the database of genetic diseases in the Arab world. He is internationally renowned in the field of genetics and teratogenesis research , and is a consultant expert in teratogenesis at the American Society for Human Genetics meetings.
Publications
Ahmed Eltaybi has edited more than 200 research papers in the field of genetics , and has identified 38 new types of genetic disorders in these papers. He has also conducted many other researches on Mendelian laws of heredity . He was a member of the editorial boards of many journals specialized in genetics and genetics in the United States of America .
Al-Tayyibi also edited a book in which he wrote more than 25 chapters, co-edited by Professor Talat Farag , on genetic disorders among Arab peoples. This book was published in 1997 by Oxford University Press .
Initiatives
He usually participates in the development of genetic and hereditary services in many Arab countries such as Kuwait , to which he contributed greatly, especially in the Genetic Research Center that was established there in 1979 and opened in 1980. He also participated in centers and research of this type in many other Arab countries such as the Gulf States , the Palestinian territories , Jordan , Egypt , Tunisia , and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , as he developed some services of this type in the Arab region.
Hawwa recently spent eight months in Saudi Arabia , developing medical services and genetics there. He specifically established clinical genetics, training, and genetic counseling programs there, the first of their kind in the Middle East . He now contributes to teaching numerous students about genetics and advancing this field, in addition to being a pediatrician by training.

Award from Kuwait in 1989 for his contributions.
2001 Award for his scientific achievements and commitment to the cause of Mediterranean cooperation.
In 2002 he was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences .
His death
He died on July 22, 2010, after a long struggle with diabetes.
