Munther Suleiman Al-Dajjani Al-Daoudi (born on February 22, 1951 in Jerusalem ), a Palestinian academic specializing in political science and economics . He held various academic and economic positions. He is the director of the Issam Sartawi Center for the Promotion of Peace and Democracy, and has several published articles, books and research.
His upbringing and education
Dajani was born in 1951 in Jerusalem, the youngest son of the family of Suleiman Dajani and Abla Aweida. He has two brothers, Muhammad and Mohsen, and a sister, Mai. He received his school education at the Friends School in Ramallah, then at Al-Nasr College in Maadi in Egypt, then returned to Jerusalem and graduated from the Bishop’s School . He studied at Eastern Michigan University in the United States of America and obtained a bachelor’s degree in management systems and social sciences in 1974, and a master’s degree in social sciences, economics, diplomatic history, and political science in 1975. And again from the University of Texas , where he also obtained a doctorate in 1982 [3] for a thesis on the Peace in the East Initiative: Conflict and Conflict Resolution.
His professional biography
After that, he moved to Amman and joined the University of Jordan in Amman, where he worked in various positions. He returned in 1995 with his family to Jerusalem, where he assumed the position of Head of Economic Policy at the PECDAR Foundation. He worked as an advisor in the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, then as Director-General in the Ministry of Economy and Trade. Palestinian . He then headed the Research Department at the Palestinian Center for Regional Studies in Al-Bireh between October 1996 and December 2000, and also worked as a part-time professor at both Birzeit University and Al-Quds University. Later, he moved to Al-Quds University, where he taught political science and diplomatic studies, and held the positions of head of the Department of Political Science and Diplomatic Studies, head of the Issam Sartawi Center for Peace, director of the Master’s Program in American Studies there, and dean of the Faculty of Arts. He has several articles, published research and books.
His political activity
Dajani became active after his return to Palestine in 1995 from a settlement with Israel based on a two-state solution on the 1967 borders. He participated in establishing the Moderation Movement (Etidal), which is committed to finding alternatives to extremism on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He served as director of the Issam Sartawi Center for Peace, and participated in dozens of Conferences on the peace process, [5] [6] and participated in Track II diplomacy, which consisted of meetings conducted by academics to overcome some complex problems.
