Atta Elayyan: A New Zealand football player of Palestinian origin from the town of Abu Dis, near Jerusalem. He held a degree in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury and was the goalkeeper of the New Zealand national futsal team.

In addition to his sports career, he was a successful entrepreneur and recognized as one of New Zealand’s top IT leaders. He was selected among the 100 most creative executives in the field of communications and information technology and was recognized by Microsoft for his achievements.

Atta Elayyan was tragically martyred in the Christchurch mosque shooting on March 15, 2019.
