Mustafa Murad Al-Dabbagh (1897 or 1898 - 1989) is a Palestinian writer and teacher , best known for his book Our Country, Palestine, which is considered one of the important references documenting information about Palestine and its people.

His life

He was born in the city of Jaffa in 1897 or 1898. His father is Murad al-Dabbagh, his mother is Amna Heikal, and his wife is Widad Mahmasani. He has two sons, Omar and Salah al-Din. He received his primary education at the Princely School, then completed his secondary studies at the Royal Office in Beirut . In 1915, he was summoned to serve as a reserve officer in the Ottoman army. He received military training in the city of Baalbek and was sent to the army camps in Istanbul . Then he was sent with the expedition heading to the Hejaz led by Fakhri Pasha .

After the end of World War I, he joined the ranks of Sharif Hussein’s cadets. He worked in Hijaz for more than a year, and after Britain occupied Palestine, he returned to Jaffa to work in the field of education, where he worked as a teacher and then as director of the Public Knowledge School in Hebron , then as a teacher in the Teachers’ House in Jerusalem in 1925, and later he worked as an assistant to the Knowledge Inspector in Nablus and Gaza , then inspector of knowledge in the Southern District and in the Nablus District.

He held several positions, including assistant to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Amman , then its Undersecretary from 1954 to 1959. He also worked as Director of Education in Qatar from 1959 to 1961.

His works

He wrote hundreds of articles and published many research papers, most of which dealt with the issues of Palestine and the Palestinian people . He also wrote in the educational and historical fields. Among his works are: 
Our country is Palestine , where he lost his first research during the Nakba while leaving Jaffa across the sea, when the boat captain forced him to abandon his bag to lighten the weight of the boat.

In 1986, Mustafa wrote the last book he wrote, called “From Here and There,” in which he wrote:
“If there is a remainder of life and capacity and energy a surplus of health, I will continue to search for our Palestinian glories until the term expires and the work stops.”

His death

He died on September 7, 1989 AD, and other sources state that he died on October 1, 1989, and was in Beirut at the time. His name was awarded the Jerusalem Medal for Culture and Arts in 1990.
