Sheikh Bakr al-Tamimi was born and died in Nablus. He was one of the most prominent jurists in the city, which was known for its many scholars at the beginning of this century. He was also a teacher in the Great Salahi Mosque and had a room in it, which indicates his status among the scholars. Muhammad Izzat Darwaza described him: "A number of sheikhs lived in the Tamimi house, including Sheikh Bakr, who taught at the Great Mosque and had a room there. He was a brilliant and astute man, and he authored a book called 'The Polished Sword,' which was highly criticized by Christians.

He studied outside of Nablus, and I believe he studied under scholars in Damascus and Sheikh Fuad, his son, whom his father sent to Al-Azhar." Sheikh Muhammad al-Bastami, in an article titled "The Righteous Tamimi Family - From the Fragrant Lineage of the Prophetic Tradition - Descendants of the Noble Companion Tamim al-Dari in Palestine," wrote: "My father used to frequent a room in the mosque courtyard that was designated for his late teacher, Sheikh Bakr al-Tamimi.

Some of the rooms were occupied by Sheikh Khader Tuffaha, Sheikh Abdul-Al Samadi, and Sheikh Hafez al-Sharabi. Sheikh Bakr was renowned for his eloquence, sharp wit, and persuasive power."
