Rawan Al-Damen (born 1979) is a director, producer, editor, and presenter. Rawan obtained a bachelor’s degree in television and radio media from Birzeit University and then a master’s degree in media from the British University of Leeds . She worked on Jordanian Television from 2002 to 2006. She also worked as a director, preparer and presenter on Al Jazeera Satellite Channel .

Professional career

The beginning

Rawan began her television career in 1999 in Palestine and then Jordan. She joined UNICEF to work as a media advisor to the regional office. She participated in writing three books: Children of Palestine in the Old Days and History in Childhood Memory , in addition to a third book published under the title Our Schools in the Dock . 

Al Jazeera channel

Rawan joined Al Jazeera Network in 2006. Among them, she presented a group of documentary programs, including the 13-part Pioneers series , which talks about Arab female role models. She also presented the 4-part Al-Nakba program , which talks about the roots of the Palestinian issue, before in 2010 she supervised the presentation of the 5-part Owners of the Country program. Who spoke about the Palestinians. Al-Damen participated in supervising the production and direction of the films Bitter Peace in 2009 and The Road to January 25 in 2011. 

Currently

Rawan moved to work through various online platforms; On the Edraak platform for distance learning, in cooperation with the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) network, it presented a course to learn the basics of digital storytelling,  and in August 2019 it launched the “Palestine Ambassador” initiative Which aims to enable everyone interested in the Palestinian issue to present it to their surroundings in an optimal manner and provide them with the information and skills necessary for that.

Awards

Award for the best documentary film about Palestine for the film “The Nakba” at the Fifth Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival in 2009.
The Spanish Audience Award at the Amal Arab-European Festival for the film The Nakba in Spain in 2009 as well.
Best Documentary Film Award at the Norwick Television Festival in Britain in 2004
